A first birthday is all about photos – and a tiny sharara set or dhoti set makes them special. But babies need comfort first. Here is how to choose an Indian outfit your little one will actually be happy in.
Choose soft cotton
Baby skin is sensitive. Look for organic cotton – it is soft, breathable and gentle, and it washes well after cake and food. Avoid scratchy net, heavy sequins and stiff lining for babies under 18 months.
Styles that work for babies
- Sharara sets – a short kurti with wide flowy pants. Easy to wear and lovely in photos.
- Dhoti sets – comfy for crawling and new walkers.
- Peplum top with pants – easy nappy changes, still looks festive.
- Small lehenga sets – for a traditional look at the cake cutting.
Getting the size right
Go one size up if your baby is between sizes – they grow fast, and a little room is more comfortable. Our baby sets come in 6–18 months. Not sure? Message us your baby’s age and we will help.
Matching the family
Many parents match colours with the baby – a mum’s saree or suit in the same shade, and dad and big brother in a matching kurta pajama or boys kurta.
